Our Beliefs

As a church within the Church of the Nazarene, the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, we believe in the power of love given to every believer who has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and received the Holy Spirit of God in order to love others, live above the control of sin, and then likewise make other Christlike disciples.

We believe in God. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe in the Holy Spirit of God. We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by God through Mary, that he lived a sinless life, sacrificed his life willingly on a cruel Roman implement of torture, the cross, and on the third day after his death he rose from the dead, thus conquering sin, death and the grave.

We believe we have eternal life through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe we can live above the control of sin in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit; something we call "sanctification". We believe that same power, which raised Jesus from the dead, empowers us to love others just as Jesus loves us. That is, that even while we were still living sinful lives, Jesus Christ loved us and gave his life for us. We believe that kind of love compels us to acts of compassion, grace and mercy.

We believe that one day, Jesus Christ will return to eliminate evil in this world and usher in an eternal kingdom where love, peace, joy, and goodness will reign and where evil, suffering, and hardship will be banished forever.

We may stand in opposition to what we believe goes against God's Word, but we never stand in opposition to anyone who desires to find God's forgiveness, love, peace, and joy even in the life you live today!

Therefore, for believers and unbelievers alike, we believe that we must remove any and all barriers between us and God, through Jesus Christ, by being willing to recognize sin in our life, identify it for what it is, confess it to Jesus, repent or turn away from that sin, and then allow the Holy Spirit of God to eradicate that sin from us.
